The Real Reason I Started Painting

The Real Reason I Started Painting

Buckle up, it's story time.

It was the height of the pandemic, I had zero income (if you've ever been an intern, you get it), and suddenly a lot of free time. Like the rest of the world during this time, I was scared - terrified actually - and felt extremely lost.

Many days were spent serving others, coming home exhausted, collapsing into bed, and doing it all over again. I thought to myself: there has to be more to life than this.

So I picked up my paints. At first it was just a way to slow down my racing thoughts. But then I started sharing little pieces online — and something surprising happened. People began saying, “this feels like what I’ve been feeling too,” or “I needed this today.”

When I realized my art was helping others feel seen, I wanted to find a way to carry that connection beyond a screen. That’s how the postcard subscription was born — a tiny piece of art and encouragement you can actually hold, or send on to someone who needs it. A reminder that we don’t have to do life alone.

Each month I send out one exclusive postcard (with art you won’t find anywhere else), a matching sticker, and a handwritten note. It’s my favorite way to keep this thread between us alive — a little reminder in your mailbox that you’re not alone.

I’d love for you to join me in this. Whether you keep the postcards for yourself or send them on to a friend, it’s my way of sharing something tender, slow, and real in a world that moves way too fast.
