Hi I'm Julie
Artist, school psychologist, and soft-hearted human behind Glad You’re Here Co.
I grew up on the living room floor with crayons, my little sister beside me, my mom quilting nearby on weekends. It sounds idyllic, and in those moments, it was. But our home was also full of anger, awkward silences, emotions nobody named out loud. Art was where I went when the chaos got too loud. At first I drew my jewelry box, my favorite cartoons, anything to escape. Then as a teenager, something shifted. I started drawing how I felt. The words I couldn’t say out loud, the weight I was carrying around mental health and self-worth, it all came out through paint and pencil instead.
For a long time, that stayed private.
Then COVID hit, and like a lot of people, I found myself thinking — what do I actually have to lose? I started posting my work online and stumbled into the warmest, most unexpected little corner of the internet. People were kind. People were showing up. So I threw some pieces on Etsy, half expecting nothing. Someone in Norway bought my work (!) and I still think about that.
It’s grown slowly and intentionally since then. I’m still a school psychologist by day — working with kids in a small rural school, holding space for their hard stuff — and honestly, that work and this work aren’t so different. Both are about making people feel less alone.
That’s what I want when someone finds a piece of mine. Not for them to think it’s pretty. I want them to feel it in their chest. That finally, someone gets me feeling.
That’s what I’m making. Soft art for hard days.
Glad You’re Here Co. is a one-woman shop full of prints, bookmarks, greeting cards, and little bundles of beauty — made for the person who feels things deeply and needs a reminder that that’s actually a strength. If you’ve ever wanted to send something to a friend going through it but couldn’t find the words, this is the shop for you. Most pieces live happily on a wall, a desk, or in someone’s mailbox.
When I’m not painting or packing orders, I’m probably drinking tea, talking to my cat, or dancing in my pj's. I live in Massachusetts and I make everything from a little studio corner that is always slightly messier than I intend.
Want soft reminders in your inbox?
I send gentle notes every week — a little life update, something I've been thinking about, and a quiet nudge toward something in the shop. No noise. Just words that feel like a warm cup of something.
A little note from me
Part of every order helps support mental health initiatives and LGBTQIA+ organizations. and with every order, wildflowers and trees are planted – a tiny reminder that growth can be both gentle and wild. this shop isn’t just about pretty things, but about giving back to communities and the earth that need more care, safety, and love.
